Comparison of Physical Activity Training Using Augmented Reality and Conventional Therapy on Physical Performance following a Total Knee Replacement: A Randomized Controlled Trial

نویسندگان

چکیده

There is growing interest in using augmented reality (AR)-based training for rehabilitation programs, while it remains unclear whether physical exercises AR can be more effective than conventional therapy patients with total knee replacement (TKR). This study, therefore, aimed to compare the effects of AR-based therapist-based on performance early-stage after a TKR. It was double-blind randomized controlled trial repeated measures (pre-surgery, post-surgery, and post-intervention). Twenty-four participants TKR were allocated either or training. Both groups received program 30 min per session, three sessions week, four weeks. The outcome included range motion (ROM), muscle strength, balance, perceived pain. results showed significant improvements all measured outcomes both (p < 0.05). However, despite our hypothesis that ART would TKR, no differences found between two groups. While there some evidence showing performing could improve surgery, comparison did not show superior effectiveness. used provide real-time feedback motivation appropriate home-training programs.

Total knee replacement plus physical and medical therapy or treatment with physical and medical therapy alone: a randomised controlled trial in patients with knee osteoarthritis (the MEDIC-study)

BACKGROUND There is a lack of high quality evidence concerning the efficacy of total knee arthroplasty (TKA). According to international evidence-based guidelines, treatment of knee osteoarthritis (KOA) should include patient education, exercise and weight loss. Insoles and pharmacological treatment can be included as supplementary treatments. If the combination of these non-surgical treatment ...

Muscle ‘regenerative potential’ determines physical recovery following total knee replacement

OBJECTIVES Lower limb muscle power is thought to influence outcome following total knee replacement (TKR). Post-operative deficits in muscle strength are commonly reported, although not explained. We hypothesised that post-operative recovery of lower limb muscle power would be influenced by the number of satellite cells in the quadriceps muscle at time of surgery. METHODS Biopsies were obtain...
